There has been much debate in the last few months over the Health Care Bills in Congress. Much of it, I’m afraid, has been more emotion and misconceptions than logic or truisms. Few that have gotten through high school can dispute certain mathematical truths that were drilled into them ad nauseum. One that we learn [...]

For most Silicon Valley jobless workers, remaining in tech is often the first choice, but with the economies current state and unemployment rates skyrocketing some are choosing to switch to clean-energy or health-care industries. Some are shifting even further afield, looking for jobs.
in teaching or financial consulting. People are leaving tech as “more tech companies [...]

WASH, RINSE, and REPEAT
With the recent rash of pirate attacks off the coast of Somalia, hi-tech entrepreneurs are coming to the rescue. Most people figure pirates probably don’t bathe often, at least often enough, so here’s one solution that kills two birds with one stone: The instant wash, but with no rinse cycle: This solution [...]

Whatever happened to “small government”. Isn’t that a Republican trademark? Now, thanks to our tax dollars, we (and I mean everyone in this country that pays taxes), own 79% of AIG, paying $85-billion, and of course manage Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as well. A recent article by CNN suggests that Big OIl is at it again, spending huge amounts of money to make sure their record breaking profits stay in tact. In what may be surprising to some, the most recent figures from the Center for Responsive Politics show that the oil industry gives a relatively small sum to [...]

In Washington, President Bush chided Russia on Friday for Cold War-style behavior, saying, “bullying and intimidation are not acceptable ways to conduct foreign policy in the 21st century.”
Bush said the United States stands “with the people of Georgia and their democratically elected government.” He said the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity “must be respected.”
“We will [...]

I knew that Corporations were encroaching more and more on our so called ‘democracy’ (closer to ”corporate-fascism” me thinks), what with the Bush Administration throwing them a bone at every opportunity. But this is nuts: now the primary burdon of keeping our country fiscally operationally is on us, the “litte guy”. Are you ready to shoulder that [...]

To me, the presidential race reached a turning point last week when John McCain opted for a campaign of denigration employing racial stereotypes, sexualized talking points for surrogates (Obama as “internet date”) and copious ridicule. It’s made the curve that much of the media still uses to grade McCain’s more obvious shortcomings all the more [...]

I love it when someone with celeb status (meaning they get media attention more than anything), does something beneficial for our country. Right on Paris. But lets look a little deeper into this phenomena. What Paris gave as an “energy policy” seems intuitively obvious. In fact, it’s probably nothing that [...]
