Using adjustment layers

January 31, 2006 Photoshop No Comments

Using adjustment layersMany times you create a complex photoshop file with many layers, masks and effects etc and you reach a point where you want to apply one layer adjustment or color effect to all the layers without merging the layers. Adjustment layers come to your rescue in such situtations. In this tutorial we’ll show you how convenient it is, to use adjustment layers.

Create a new file.

Open a couple of images.

Drag these images to the main file.

Using lasso tool create a selection of sky.

Press Ctrl+Alt+D to apply feather to the selection.

Press delete to show the picture beneath this layer.

Now we want to adjust the color balance without merging both images. To achieve this, from layer menu select new adjustment layer>>color balance.

Adjust settings in the color balance window and press OK.

Color balance is adjusted in both the images below the adjustment layer.
